batteries included

batteries from type 'included'

Fans of Python use the phrase “batteries included” to describe the standard library, which covers everything from asynchronous processing to zip files.

the sorry state of pythons stdlib

First of all, in general if you buy something and there are batteries included, they are crap, and you are lucky if they did not break already and spit their guts in the package. The only exception I am aware of are mobile phones and notebooks, but in general you are better of getting some real batteries instead of relying on the batteries included.
And this sad truth applies to python as well, if you want to use it, the first thing is to replace the batteries included, as important parts of the standard libary simply do not work as promised on the packaging.

Actually I like python as a language, but this batteries included phrase makes me sick.

Therefore I decided to share my experiences with pythons standard libraries.
